i'm thinking about buying a cheap light meter. I had a look on e-bay, but i don't really know what i'm looking for. So could you tell me what features i should look for in a light meter, and what are your favorite brands? thank you for helping.

I use a Weston 715 or another very much like it, just a different number. They came with booklets, one red one blue; the booklets are packed with great info on how to use the light meter. No batteries are needed. They do go dead and not all of them on the market will work; you better ask first; I got mine from camera shows for 5-15 dollars with the book and a leather case.
Today at 11 am, March 1, Pgh, PA USA, is slightly overcast with dark cast shadows; it gets brighter on very dry days; Light readings with my back to the sun were: 100 for the grass lawn pointing down, 200 for the landscape pointing straight out, and 400 for my hand pointing up a little; that translates, using asa 50 and 1/50 sec, to f 6.3, f 9, and f 12.7. If it were brighter by two more settings I'd get F8, F11 and F16. That would be one of those deep blue sky, colorful hills days. This meter is very sensitive. Weston 715. I just saw a meter listed, e-bay? NOT mine.
Sekonics are sold new, but not for $10 and not with such a booklet I'm sure.
